For the past 15 years or so, Airheads have gathered at this curious location to experience camaraderie & community at one of the most misunderstood bodies of water in the country. Please join me on Veterans Day Weekend to ride, camp, explore, & connect with nature. Explore places like Slab City / Salvation Mountain, observe geothermal mud pots, ride to Joshua Tree Nat Park, or explore the trails in Box Canyon.
Bring what you need to stay warm, well fed, & hydrated. There’s Bombay Beach to the South and the town of Mecca to the North where you can find food and supplies. Sometimes the American Legion Hall in Bombay Beach has a chili cookoff, not sure if they’re doing it this year, but the also do a cheap steak dinner on Fridays. And you can’t miss the legendary dive bar The Ski Inn. Mecca has gas, groceries, and some very authentic Mexican food.
Your host will set up the now famous taco stand on Saturday night for Tijuana style street tacos. All you can eat carne asada, chorizo, and more. Donations are accepted to cover the cost of the groceries. The cost of camping will be determined by the number of attendees. More people = spreading out the cost of the campsites. It’s usually about $30 each for me to reserve the best 8 sites at the dead end of the campground.
Please let me know if you’ve got questions or need more details. 2 wheels, or 4 – it doesn’t matter. Show up any way you can for what most call a surprisingly good time.
