No twisties, no mountains or canyons, but we darn sure got some GREAT sweet corn here in the heart of the prairie and some great day rides too.

So, we will be hosting a rustic camp out at friends creek group camp site to showcase our local sweet corn. Weather permitting, loads of sweet corn will be provided. We will provide friday and saturday evening dinners and a fire pit which will beg for tall tales and corny jokes. Basic campfire cooked breakfast saturday and sunday morning, and coolers and ice will also be provided.

Our camp site will be at the top of the hill (don’t laugh) at the edge of the woods overlooking the restored prairie.

Plenty of local riding options exist with suggested trips to Allerton State Park and the Monticello railway museum Where you can arrange for an old time diesel train ride. Or, if you get lucky and make arrangements ahead of time, through their Rail Time program, you could get trained and actually drive one of their antique trains for the experience of a lifetime.

This is a rustic camp site with pit toilets, hand pumped drinking water, and no electricity. Showers and normal amenities are available nearby at the main campgroung facility nearby.

Friends Creek Conservation Area is located 4.5 miles from Argenta IL. on Friends Creek Park Rd. Cisco IL. It is accessible from any direction as this is the middle of the prairie, but for ease of directions, Friends creek Rd crosses IL state Rt. 48 just north of Argenta IL. Or from Interstate 72, take exit 156 (Cisco IL exit.) and follow the signs.
