Period correct engine paint

Hi I'm new to this club. I live in Poland, NY. I now own two Classic airheads. A 1976 R90/6 and a 1979 R65. My question is for the 1976 R90/6.
The alternator cover and valve covers are painted black. from what I can see in pictures of 1976 R90's that is not correct for those models. Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard !
Other than the "motor emblem" which disclosed the model information along either side of the starter cover, I think you're correct. I don't remember any other black highlighting until the mid-1980's.

thanks for the reply. I purchased some aircraft paint remover so I can return those parts to their original appearance.

That's just my bad memory. I wouldn't do anything rash just yet. Besides 95% of the people looking at the bike don't know either !
