I’ve tried researching this topic but haven’t found anything.  I’d like to install LED bulbs thruout a 1971 R60/5.  Are there any special considerations, other than an LED compliant turn signal relay heeded?  Anyone does this, if so, how? Thank you very much!

• /5, /6 and /7 bikes should be OK. Like you've noted, you will need the more expensive "electronic" flasher relay.

• You might want to be very selective about the bulbs you choose...

- Since the majority of automotive bulbs are seen head on, most of the replacement LEDs display in a narrow viewing angle pattern, opposite the bulb's base. If you buy your bulbs on SuperBrightLEDs.com they'll often offer several display angles. I think a VERY wide 180° pattern would be best, but see what they offer and consider how the bulb is physically situated in the TS pod.

- Also when used under an Amber lens, you most definitely want to use an Amber LED bulb. That will help make them appear brighter since all the light that's generated makes it to the viewer's eyes.

• Similarly, you may wish to buy some Red LED bulbs for the tail lamp.

Hope this helps.

Lights do not change the appearance of the /5, while providing the safety of modern "bright" lighting. What a difference five years make in lighting technology🍻.

Legacy 3 EVO Description:

Combined into intelligent electronic circuit board designs, our LED upgrades contain 12 bright white LEDs for impressive daytime or nighttime illumination together with 12 amber LEDs for the turn signal function in the front kit. While the rear kit contains 12 amber LEDs for turn signals and 12 intense red LEDs as running lights, which become extra intense red for brake light function.

>> Adding LED bulbs to the instrument cluster can have interesting side effects.

- The instrument back lighting can be turned from White to a more soothing Green Bay using the wide angle LEDs. This is especially nice if you have the green lettered instruments.

- Changing the Hi Beam indicator to a narrow angle Blue LED means you'll be able to see your Hi Beam indicator in broad daylight. Riding with the Hi Beam ON lights up the full reflector making the rider more visible during daylight hours. It's all about being seen !

>> The biggest "bang for your buck" is changing out the H4 headlamp bulb for an LED replacement. (The headlamp bulb is the largest consumer of electrical power on the entire motorcycle.) Not only will you get more light from the bulb, it does so by consuming about ~1/3 the electrical current. What happens to the electrical power that was saved? It goes toward charging the battery more fully on "short hop" rides. It also means your rectifier board is not working nearly as hard.
