Just thought I would share a tip.  I recently resealed the cylinders on my ‘78 R100. I found myself pondering, in hopes of a new idea, as to how I could apply sealant to the cylinder bases and crankcase surfaces. Most places I read say to smear on a thin coat with your finger. I’ve done this many times, but, could I do it better?  How could I get a nice, thin, even coat in a thorough and well controlled manner?  Well, I thought, … women do this with make-up all the time! So I bought me a package of LIP GLOSS APPLICATORS.  I’m here to say these things are handy in the shop!  They are lint free.  The tip is fairly small, and there is a flat area on the side to smear stuff around. They did great with the sealant. Easy to reach around the cylinder studs, etc..  Now I’m grabbing them for all kinds of things. Quite a step up from cotton swabs … and fingers.

That's a neat idea. Thanks !!

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
