1978 R 100/7. Out for a ride last week, rode about 60 miles and stopped for a few hours. I didn't notice any problems at that time. Started home and about 10 miles in I started up a hill putting a load on the engine. It seemed like I was running out of fuel so I flipped to reserve, no change. Dumped the fuel bowls, no water or dirt. Milked it home and took the carbs off 1 at a time to clean thinking a torn diaphram or clogged jet exc. I've reset the fuel needles, floats, idle, cables with a vacuum gauge and checked the valves. Still boggs from just off idle though mid throttle. No other work has been done recently and ran fine till then. Thanks for your help in advance. Gene

• Check the fuel flow from the petcocks without any fuel line attached. You should get a solid stream out of each.

• Check the flow through the cross-over tube through the air box. Should get the same stream.

• Check air flow through the fill cap.

• Check you haven't lost either screw that blocks off your vacuum gauge attach points.

• Check condition of the air filter.

Hope this helps.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
