I've started inspecting the charging system on my '84 R100RS (Last Edition) and refurbishing it as necessary.

I've waded through most of the published information on the subject - Snowbum's comprehensive articles, the posts currently on-line on this forum, the CHITECH BMW Electric School Manual (Including Snowbum's comments/corrections) and Oak Okleshen's articles (via the index) as far back as late 1999.

I will make several other posts requesting help and input - but I'd like this first one to first express my appreciation to Robert Fleischer, Oak Okleshen, the Chicago Region BMW Owner's Association, and this club - for making so much information available. Thank you!

I don't have a copy of the June 1999 Airmail. Would it be possible to get a copy of this edition - or at least a copy of Oak's article on Diode Boards from this edition?

I also don't have a copy of the Service Information Bulletins referenced in Snowbum's "Diode Boards & Grounding Wires" article. I wasn't able to find them on line or on my copy of the BMW Service Information Bulletin CD. Would it be possible to get a copy of all three that Snowbum references in his article? They are:

12-012-88 (2323) (9/88)
12-019-93 (2611) (10/93) and the revision to this dated 11/93)

I have discovered that there is one additional Service Information Bulletin not mentioned in Snowbum's article:

12-012-85 (361) (2/85) -- which I found on the Service Information Bulletin CD (version 1.0) sold by BMW (01-99-0-022-037). I've included this service bulletin as an attachment to this post. There is a version 1.1 of this CD (01-99-0-022-038) which I've just ordered. I'll reply back to this post if I find any of the Service Bulletin's I'm looking for on this CD.

Thank you Scot for the help on ordering back issues of Airmail.

I'm dismayed to learn that posting Service Information Bulletins could result in unpleasant legal ramifications. For older bikes well out of warranty, I'd expect BMW would encourage access to this information to promote parts sales. To comply with your request, I attempted to delete my attachment, but was unable to find a "delete" function for attachments on the edit screen.

To broaden my reach into the Airhead support community, I recently joined the "Airlist" email list server. This service doesn't allow attachments - so to aid illustrating my questions, I decided to post online entries of my own using the WordPress blog service to post photos, videos, and text to help communicate by questions and findings. Airlist allows me to include links to my posts as necessary.

I made a post this morning about the Service Information Bulletin CD's you may find helpful: https://iputstuffhere.wordpress.com/2016/09/23/bmw-service-information-bulletins/

It's worse than that. My wife bakes cakes professionally. Her support forum is warning pros not to make cakes with football team mascots, corporate or college logos, or any of the array of kid's cartoon characters without a permission letter specifically licensing that specific cake.

The fastest to bring a law suit.... Walt Disney !! You could bake a $25 Little Mermaid cake and be sued for thousands.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
