Beware Wiring Diagrams
In the May 2017 Airmail, Oak warned about after-market wiring diagrams. I recently bought a 1978 100/7 and a Haynes Repair Manual.
Is the diagram in the manual incorrect and if so, where can I find the correct diagram?
I have had to do extensive electrical circuit tracing and repairs on my 1979 R100 /7 and have not found any faults (so far) in the Haynes manual schematics.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
I have Often said ::
get several wiring diagrams for your shop binders. have them copied in Color if possible, make them 11'' x 17''
get 3-5 copies made so you can fudge /redraw one and still have a clean copy.
you can Google drawings and send the link to a copy shop. I must have 5-6 different but very close sources
for my R90.
ANY work you do on your bike should BE DOCUMENTED and keep a copy or 2 in your shop binder, dated, with Details.
Thanks for the tip, I am reworking my bike's electrical, so I mark both ends as I undo each connection and write the wire colors in my log book. Jim
As you work on the new bike ....... i'd draw your bikes wires, colors & connections before you remove any wires first. dated and placed into a shop binder.

ANY work you do on your bike should BE DOCUMENTED, make a drawing by hand and/or make a copy on the computer if you have a simple powerpoint program. I keep a copy or 2 in your shop binder, I have also had them digitized, ALL versions dated, with lots of Details.
