'75 R90/6: Removing cylinder heads
I have just resealed the cylinders on my 1975 R90/6 about 200 miles ago. No leaks in the base gasket, pushrod tube seals at the engine block, head gasket or valve cover gasket. However, the head leaks down the outside of the exhaust pushrod tube onto my left foot. I need to remove the head and seal that area, or replace with a non-leaking head. So...
Can i remove and replace the head without needing too replace the base gasket and pushrod tube seals? Can i remove the head, work on it, not disturbed anything, except for relaxing the pressure on the tubes and base gasket, then replace the head (obviously with a new head gasket)? It feels like a risk for leaks to not replace all those other gaskets, but its 10 times the work.
Thanks for the help/advice

The push rod tube seals (as well as all the other new o-rings) will be OK because they work by simple "spring pressure".
I would buy a base gasket, but wait and see if the cylinder breaks free when un-mounting the cyl head. If the cylinder stays stuck to the engine, then I'd see no need.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Thanks. That makes perfect sense.
