1977 R100 conversion project
Found a 1977 R100 in 4 boxes. 43000 on odo. Second owner was doing a valve job and had cardiac arrest. Seems I have all the parts and want to make this a GS type bike. New shocks, clutch, alternator, and maybe disc brakes and electronic ignition and semi knobbies. Has luftmeister fairing and original Samsonite luggage. will have to clean piston and valve heads. Budget planned at $1000-1500. Oh needs tires. Has nice spoke rims. Just looking for advise. Never rebuilt a bike before but really like the BMW venue. First Beemer was a used (2200 mi) 1976 R90s Dayton orange. ($2000) Sold it when I got married for 2600. Don't have the bike or the wife. Sure miss that bike. Bad joke but true. Any ideas how to proceed. Thanks
Congrats on the find!
But one thing is not clear....
New shocks, clutch, alternator, and maybe disc brakes and electronic ignition and semi knobbies.
Is this what you plan to install, or is this what the previous owner bought and it all comes with the bike ?
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
