1977 R100/7 Driveshaft problem
I'm trying to remove the driveshaft from the swing arm frame in order to have the entire motorcycle frame powder-coated. Removed the nut from the rear of the driveshaft and assumed the rear flange would easily be pulled off. Wrong! seems to be stuck. The Fiche shows the separate pieces but is it splined, threaded, or press fit? I have tried using a puller, but don't want to use much force as I do not know the answer to the above questions. Help will be much appreciated.

Be careful with this, these usually are pressed on with tremendous force. They do come off, and usually with a huge BANG and flying bell couplers! I recommend that you don't try it at home. Instead, bring it to a machine shop to have it pressed out safely. If you must DIY it, I make sure that the retaining nut is on and catching all threads (so it's loose, not snugged down). This way the bell shouldn't fly off and cause injury. Then use a hardened steel puller to break the bond of the taper. But use all sorts of precautions.
Now for the legal disclaimer: doing this can result in injury or death.....I don't recommend it to DIY'ers. Take it to a professional shop that knows how to handle these potential projectiles!

OK, will remove the swing arm and take to shop. Thanks.
