I've been a member of many hobby forums, and surprisingly, some of the most popular sub-groups have little to do with the specific topic. They usually have names like the back porch, the kitchen table, the gun counter...etc. It's a place for the community to grow and exchange stories, issues, gripes about teenagers (kids these days!) etc. At first glance it seems off-topic, but from my experience, it becomes the glue that holds the forum together over time. People with shared hobbies usually have shared interests. Just my .02 adjusted for inflation.
