First big trip on my R75/6, heading from Tallahassee in the very north of Florida to Chicago at the end of April. I'll be riding through Georgia and Alabama on day one. On day two I'll ride into Tennessee and stop for the night at Kermit's Tech Day. From there it's into Kentucky and Illinois, where I'll camp for night three. That will set me up to arrive in Chicago hopefully before evening rush hour gets started.

My questions are simple: Who is along my path? I don't have a dead-set plan of which roads to take, nor am I interested in getting there as quickly as possible. I'm hoping to cover somewhere between 250 and 300 miles each day. If anyone wants to meet for lunch, or just join me for a few miles of riding, it'd be great to break up my day with some company. If you've got a lawn and a place for me to set up a tent for a night, that would be amazing! If you know any good roads that are worth a scenic detour, feel free to let me know and I'll work them into my route. If you're in Chicago, let's meet up! I'll be there for a week and have basically no plans other than to lounge around my sister's apartment.

Thanks, for any feedback and advice. Hope to see some of you along the journey!

STAY OUT OF ATLANTA !!

A major fire under the elevated portions of I-85 just north of the city center in late March left all lanes south-bound collapsed into rubble and all north-bound lanes condemned due to structural weakening. This has caused the complete closure of I-85, which is THE major north-side artery into the city center.

Consequently, all other roads into and around the city are clogged as commuters jockey for new ways to get to work in downtown. My advice is to stay at least 100 miles away from Atlanta's city center.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
