Plan to ride this route in the spring 2017 on a '74 R60/6. The route is sometimes called the Back of The Dragon but want to extend past Mt. Rogers down to Shatley Springs In NC for brunch, or lunch, or dinner and then on to the Blue Ridge Parkway and as far as Fancy Gap. Would be great to have several airheads along for the trip. This should be convenient for enthusiasts from Roanoke to Bristol areas as well as S WV.
The first leg to NC is approx 74 miles and with lots of stops.
You will also want to visit...
• Hwy 58 east-west of Mouth of Wilson through the state park.
• A road called "The Snake" HWY 421 north and south of Shady Valley, TN. Very similar to "Tail of the Dragon".
• Wonderful little motorcycle campground for you in Shady Valley called Switchback Creek. Very small, very nice facilities, very quiet, motorcycle friendly management. Tell them "Wobbly sent me". http://www.switchbackcreek.com/
