Gathering of the Clans: First visit what should I not forget to take ?
I'm off to my first BMW rally in June, the Gathering of the Clans.
Would like suggestions from you long time rally participants on what to 1) absolutely not forget, and 2) what to not even bother bringing along ! I've been to several British bike rallies before, but always opted for a local motel. This time I think I'll bring a tent.
All suggestions gratefully accepted.

From Brent's it is a long ride to a motel after a late evening around the campfire. I missed last year but every time I've been it rained hard for a short while in the afternoon. Everybody went to the shelter and waited it out.
Make certain you know how to get there. There was another campground on the same road, before Brent's.

Been going for decades (lest I was in Antarctica... yeah, I worked there for 12 years) Was there when it was Turkey Toms, but very happy that Brent and Family are running it now.
Bring a tent (or contact them about a cabin), ground cloth, good sleeping bag and a towel. Swimming hole, shower, or don't. Also bring whatever fun blows up your skirt and an open noggin.
Oh, and heed Brent's words: your GPS and Cell phone will NOT work there.
Well I'm not a big rally guy, but whenever I'm not sleeping at home, and even sometimes then, good earplugs are a must for a sound sleep. In fact I buy them in bulk, just got these last week
Howard Leight disposable Earplugs 200 pairs
I've been using these for years, the trick is knowing how to get them properly inserted. Roll one between thumb and two fingers then if putting in right ear, bend head left the with left hand pull up on top of the right ear and then insert with right hand. The plug will then expand and be good for several hours.
Have fun!
I always have my ear plugs; learned many moons ago (when I was a young pup) to not only use them on la motos, but also when sleeping.
Thanks, guys. As a Boy Scout leader for many years, believe me I'm aware of the advantages of sleeping with "Vitamin I" and ear plugs ! They are definitely in the "don't leave home without it" category.

Ended up in the bunkhouse with my brother and 7 other guys. That saved a lot of extra "what if" packing for us. I think we'll use that again next year. The beds were extremely nice.
The Rally was fabulous with a record turnout, with something like 180 BMWs attending. There were well over 200 campers. Weather was beautiful all weekend. What a fantastic experience !
Total distance for me and my crew was ~725 miles round trip including rally miles on Saturday.
