Just Back: 8th Twin Valley Rally, Meadows of Dan, VA
Some 175 BMW riders of all shapes, genders and descriptions gathered Sept 15 & 16 at the Willville Campground in Meadows of Dan, VA for the 8th Twin Valley Rally. This is a smaller campground and so registration is capped at 200 riders to prevent over-crowding. The organization was phenomenal with the Twin Valley Riders providing a killer dinner both days, with the local VFW hosting breakfast on Saturday.

Also provided were 2 different bands to perform during the evening, one each day. The folks from Chaos Brewing provided excellent craft brewed beers and ales for $1 per 12oz cup both nights. And the BMW shop from Salem, VA brought over some BMW, Triumph and Ducati bikes for free test rides on Saturday. Best of all was the local riding on miles and miles of well maintained back county roads. Just to underscore the unbelievable number of excellent sport riding roads in this area, one of the ride route sheets provided with the check-in package was 145 miles long !
Typical area riding starts about 1 minute into THIS VIDEO
Willville is a motorcycle friendly campground with both cabins and camping areas. Since the on-site owner is a BMW rider, there are ample motorcycle shop tools available for on-the-road repairs, if needed. The setting is idyllic and bordered by a babbling brook with lots of greenery. The bathrooms and showers are modest, but very well maintained. There was no shortage of hot water, even with the campground filled to capacity. If you ever find yourself in VA on a motorcycle looking for lodging along Hwy 58 then Willville is THE place to be.

I thoroughly enjoyed his rally, and I'll be looking for the announcement of the 9th annual to send in my registration.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
