wrenching or parts ?
On my newest new to me bike, 1993 R100GSPD, I seem to have 2 left valve covers. Bike runs and starts pretty well. Only thing I noticed was that I thought valves were loud. So as I started going through bike I adjusted them last night. As I thought they were pretty loose. As I put the covers back on I notice they were both " L " . I never saw this before. Do I care? seem to snug up well and don't leak. If I don't care why are they marked? Things that make you go " HHuumm"

I am not very familiar with the GS styles of airheads. But generally speaking, valve covers are symmetrical in that they will fit just fine on either side regardless of any marking. The peanut style valve covers are non-designated in that there is no visual difference no matter which side they are on. The angular type fit either side , but the visual effect of straight lines between the carburetor and exhaust pipe is slightly canted if right or left is on the opposite side.

Thanks. I never gave it much thought before just did R to R and L to L. This is my first Airhead GS
Jim is correct. My idea is that the L/R marking are only so that you can use the same valve cover gaskets over and over if you re-fit the covers in the same position.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
