Why are these /5 luggage racks asymmetric?

Hi!
I just put luggage racks on my /5. I was surprised to find that they are asymmetric: the left side has a sharp bend near the top of the shock that the right side does not. Just looking at the frame, the location of the wheel in the frame and so on, I can't, immediately see why.
This has got me very curious. Can any of you explain the asymmetry?

The rear rack on my /5 also has a sharp bend for which the reason was not immediately obvious just looking at it.
After I put it on the bike it became clear, it is for seat clearance when opening the seat.
Check yours, this is probably the case..
