Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade to a quality front disc (single) and carbon ceramic brake pads. This is for my 1984 R65. Any suggestions on what you have used? Thank you!

Joe

IMHO, EBC makes the very best brake pads available. Check out their line.

May we suppose that you want these super pads so that you can stop quicker? Here's a list in order of preference for brake improvements. You'll notice that pads are way on down the list and other items should be considered first.
• New DOT4 brake fluid. Flush and refill the system. Brake fluid is only good for 5 years MAX, so never let it get over 3.
• Replace the rubber brake hoses with stainless steel braided PTFE-lined hoses.
• EBC full-floating rotors.
• New pads

Hope this helps.

Yes, I expounded upon my experiences doing my 1979 R100 with dual ATE in THIS THREAD RIGHT HERE. On the ATE caliper, bringing a hose to the caliper was difficult, so I left the lower steel line in place. The new 22" flexible hose now runs from the master cylinder to the fork leg, replacing the top steel line and the rubber hose.

On the later models with Brembo calipers, the new (slightly longer) hose could run directly from the m/c to the caliper.

I ordered all my parts from Darin at Race Part Solutions. He was very helpful and had me everything in 3 days.

Hope this helps.
