I just acquired a 1989 R100GS which has a center stand. The bike rocks forward and back on the center stand pretty significantly. The bike fell over once already when the center stand came up as it was rocking - I was cleaning up some bits. Is there a bolt on replacement (or fix) that is more steady / doesn't rock forward and back?

Thanks,

Jack

The extra lift of the center stand is a useful feature, allowing the rider to remove a wheel easily. The way to avoid a tip over is to apply a ratchet strap around the front wheel rim and the cross bar of the center stand to keep the stand in the correct position. This keeps the stand in the "down" position. If you are removing the front wheel, put the axle back in the fork lowers and wrap the strap around that.
