LED Instrument Lights
Night vision is not what it once was. Had a hard time reading instruments at night so I bought some 2825 equivalent LED bulbs. With the help of Scott Marburger's excellent article on speedometer R&R, WP_20180315_21_28_24_Pro[1].jpg WP_20180315_21_28_24_Pro[1].jpg replacement of bulbs was a snap.
Got the ice blue color and instruments are easily readable even though there is only one bulb per instrument.
There is a nearly identical thread on this subject. After that I replaced my speedo and tach with green LEDs and the difference IS amazing. Try a blue LED in the hi beam indicator and you can see it during the daytime.

Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Great idea
Where is the article on the speedo repair and what part number are the bulbs
I too have that failing eye sight issue
Thanks

This is the article with step by step instructions and pictures.
These are the bulbs purchased from an e bay store. If you buy similar make sure it has LEDs on the side. Snowbum had an article on them and said some have just a single LED on top and do not throw enough light.
These LEDs are polarity sensitive. Flip the light around in the socket if it doesn't light when you plug it in.
All the bulbs I needed came from the automotive bulb section of Super Bright LEDs...

No affiliation but I've been completely happy with my Katdash LED replacement rather than dealing with individual bulbs. Go HERE. Probably my best upgrade to date.
That's for that !
I agree, Katdash is rather unique. I do have a broken flex circuit in my 1988 and was intrigued. What was the general price range of the delivered product for just the speedo/tach unit ?

Not cheap but it replaces entire bulbs/holder. Here are prices. BTW, kit included new seals and small tube of DeOxIt. V.nice.
