I own an R80ST. I recent bought a stock/new electrical mini-socket and factory bracket, as shown on the BMW parts fiche. Unfortunately, the fiche doesn't show where the bracket is mounted, and it isn't obvious to me where it can go. Can anybody advise as to where this is supposed to go. Photos of both sides of the bracket are attached for reference. Thanks for your help.

The part # is: 61 13 1 244 270. If you look at the parts fiche on the Max BMW website, there is a drawing of the part, but it is not shown in reference to any mounting on the frame. I've looked everywhere on both sides of the bike that makes sense to me. The fact that two edges are bent over(per earlier photos) seems to indicate that it wraps around two frame members where they come together, but there is nothing like this on my R80ST, at least from the engine back. Max BMW said that it uses the top shock bolt(on the right side), but that doesn't work because the plug would be behind the side cover panel. Thanks for any help. Bud

different countries

so WHAT exactly are you wanting here?
Can anybody advise as to where this is supposed to go.

to add a socket to your r80. I would add the socket to where it BEST SUITS YOUR NEEDS. I have 4 extra added outlets on my R90SRS and it never came with one. 3 are a 2 wire SAE type covered plug. from that plug i have adapters that allow me to go to a cigarette type plug , common to hold a simple USB type dual plug for charging just about anything, batteries, mobile phone. etc....

i can add an extension to my top rear pa, or either pannier.

i can add an outlet to power a tire pump, an external 12vdc lamp if dark to change a tire.
it powers my tank bag and the 4th allows a map light for reading or looking inside my tank bag.

i do not want a bmw or Powerlet type plug because those 'priority'' male / female plugs cost $$$ for my needs.

my 4 plugs are where i need them. i DON'T need a fixed outlet at my shock where a wire has to come over/ under my leg /crouch area to be effective. Nor do i need to reach around my leg after seated, then connect something.

My R80ST is completely stock, and I am trying to add the bracket and mini-socket exactly to original. I'm sure I can put it somewhere that will work, but I'd like to put it where BMW would have done it.
