I just received my Clearview shield. It did not come with instructions. Where are the "hat" washers supposed to go? It looks like the narrow piece should go through the hole in the windshield with the flange to the outside but they are extremely tight. Am I doing something wrong?

I placed the rim of the "top hat" on the outside (under the screw head) and it bolted up very nicely. Don't snug-up anything until all the fasteners are in place.

► Helpful Hint: I found that water couldn't drain away fast enough, so that pollen and general dust collected on the dashboard after a washing. So I went to the hardware store and bought 14 small black o-rings and put those between the windscreen and the fairing. A 1/16" cross-section o-ring which fits loosely on a #10 screw will stand the windscreen off the fairing about 0.03", which allows water to exit during washing, but it's not enough gap to allow rain to enter. It also seemed to cut down on some fairing noises.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Wobbly. The top hats pressed in as I torqued the screws. Thankfully they included a few extras as I snapped the first one getting a feel for it. Easy does it. Also, removing the eye brow light makes it easier to access the two fasteners above it. I found that starting in the center and working my way out was necessary. I think this is because it is thicker than the OEM windscreen. I'll try try the o-rings next time I clean it.
