Hi All. My R80RT came with a Corbin Canyon Dual Sport seat but I am considering purchasing the OEM bench seat or single/solo seat offered by BMW to replace it. Does anyone have any experience with the solo seat? Curious as to their comfort and ergonomics. I typically see them on the slash 5 and slash 6 but know they would fit the R80RT if I remove the rear seat cowl. Thanks in advance for your time.

Greetings, I have the same bike and love the Corbin seat. However, I have customized several seats. To defer some of your cost, you maybe able to swap your Corbin for a stock seat, plus a few $$ and then take the stock seat and have it customized. You will find local upholsters, especially somebody that does motorcycles or boats will do a good job. I have extended my driving seat a little bit and totally reshaped the passenger area to carry luggage. Sorry, I have no experience with solo seats, but I have seen it done. It is a matter of taste, choice and what your needs are.
Good luck.

FRANKLY, I HATE the stock seat on my R90 bike.
being a long distance rider I much prefer a Russell day long but I do have a RMS [rick mayer seat] . I also have a corbin.

WTBS ... Only buy an RMS off eBay or at least one that is already made. Don't ...... send your seat to mayer to have the seat converted as his reputation has fallen ! !

long story short the mayers brothers were the sons of the russell original designer. the day long is patented so it can't be copied by anyone other than Russell in shasta, Calif. both mayers seats are good, ROCKY [ventura area] still builds seats and those are good.

A good long distance seat is wider for more support. ergonomics plays a LOT in the seat, handlebar, mirrors, controls, rider's comfort , shoulders, back, seat, leg and head positions. it's the whole package that you need to look through because it's all connected. just ask ANY LDRider in MERA or the IronButt group.

shown ... RMS, Russell Day Long, RMS & beats

many don't like the looks of these wider more comfortable seats. then again .......if you don't ... I have to say
you must like having a sore /raw Tush! !

.
