Rear drum brakes
Because I removed my transmission to be rebuilt, I have the opportunity to look at my rear brakes. I've owned the bike for almost a year and always thought the rear braking was weak. Now that I have the rear wheel off, I can see that the drum doesn't look as if there's any rubbing with the brakes shoes as there appears to be a thin coating of rust. The brake shoes have about 3.5 mm of lining left which is far more than the 1.5 minimum. The mechanics appear to be working as the cam turns when I depress the operate the brake lever and expands the shoes.
Now I have to figure out what to do. Do I just buy new shoes / springs and hope that takes care of it or is there something I should be considering? All suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Len
What a moron I am. My bike is a 94 R100GS with just over 51,000 miles.
