Re-silvering headlight reflector
My 90/6 has moisture damage to the silver coating inside the headlight reflector. A new one is pricey. Has anyone done a re-silvering to make it shiny again? I am thinking I might try stick-on Mylar sheets. Any other suggestions?
Cheers
You may be able to clean up the finish you have. I've heard that alcohol on a cotton swab does the trick.
Another option might be to install an LED headlamp bulb with higher lumen count.

Unfortunately some of the mirror finish is completely gone. I put some high gloss chrome Rustoleum on the bare spots and it is reflective, but not like the original mirror finish. How well does the Cyron LED bulb fit in the headlight bucket. Pretty crowded in there.
• Good used reflectors run ~$125 on Ebay. Or you might check locally for people who restore old mirrors. Re-silvering is a possibility. Maybe even nickel plating would be less expensive.
• Water damage to the reflector may indicate the need for a new 63 12 1 356 403 rubber "Gasket", ~$29. Or simply re-seal the one you have with black silicone sealer.
• To fit the Cyron, you'll need to push all the wires laying over the connector board off to the sides. Then fit the proper H4 ring to the rear of the bulb (2 minutes). Then insert the bulb into the reflector and stretch the clip wires around the larger bulb body (1 minute). Plug the male connector into the std HL connector. Then offer the reflector to the HL bucket as per normal practice.
