Exchanging R65 Wheel With R100 Wheel

I replaced my R100 complete wheel and tire with an R65 wheel & tire. Drives ok except Clanking sound in rear end like it doesn't mesh tight with final drive gear. Is their different gears in Wheel on R100 & R65. I don't want to damage gears.

Without more information, I can't answer your question, but there is the possibility the wheels are a different width.

Time for a visit to the Max BMW online parts fiche to be comparing part numbers between the models.
IME, anything loose enough to hear going down the road will certainly reveal itself while tugging on the rear wheel in the shop.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
