Hi,

I am running a Dyna III ignition and if I leave the power on for any extended time I am burning the coils out. Any thoughts on the problem?

Thanks!

When you say "leave the power on," do you mean leave the power on with the bike not running? That will probably cook a coil in a hurry.

When you say "leave the power on,"

SO WHY isn't your bike wired so when you turn OFF the key, power is shut OFF to everything
except maybe your clock if you have such???

I have ALWAYS gotten into the habit of

either completely removing the keys and pocketing them
or
@ least pulling the key out of the key ignition slot an 1/8'' so it's NOT EVER LEFT ON.

I'm pretty sure that's standard for these electronic ignitions. I had a Petronix unit installed on my old Porsche and the mechanic warned me about the very same thing. Said it had once happens to him while he was working on a job and inadvertently left the ignition in the "On" position.
