'91GS, Dead starter!
Guys, I've got a dead starter on my '91GS. Bought a replacement and wanted to ride up to Tahoe for Jon Krauss' tech session today, but it refused to bump start. Only other solution i can think of is replacing it myself. Looked throughout this site and others on the web but can't find a detailed video or written procedure on how to remove fuel tank properly and get at the starter. Any suggestions?
I'm in the Folsom/Sacramento area. Is there an Airhead-friendly shop in the vicinity?
Many thanks!
Mike
Written procedure:
1. Disconnect battery
2. Remove tank
3. Remove air intake & starter cover
4. Disconnect all starter wires
5. Remove starter mounting bolts
6. Remove starter
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Buy a Clymer maintenance manual ,spend a bit of time reading ,then start to work at it slowly enjoy the experience
