Just installed rebuilt carburetors on bike sitting outside for six months, but covered. We did have some rains. The bike runs, but poorly. When I pull each throttle cable separately, the right side responds, but the left side barely does. Both exhausts get hot. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

With the bike running at about 2500rpm when you pull one throttle cable you open the butterfly on that side. The vacuum from this in turn causes the diaphragm to raise the throttle slide. If the engine did not speed up the diaphragm did not work. It either has a hole or is installed incorrectly.
There are other possibilities but that is the most likely one.
