Just got my bike back from the shop after it had been sitting for a long time.

I noticed the turn signal light was always on, the turn signals worked fine, but the light was always on.
Maybe a problem with the relay or in the instrument panel.

My R90 did the same. The indiator light was always on faintly. The fix was new flasher relay. I used a three wire automotive one instead of the very expensive stock four wire BMW unit. If memory serves me, you eliminate the brown stock wire. I made jumper wires and left the stock connector in place.

Mr.Horsfield is correct. A common American $5 automotive bi-metal flasher unit can be substituted for the German flasher unit. The American unit needs no "ground", so the Brown wire is left unconnected.

You must continue to use standard, incandescent bulbs in your turn signal pods. These type flasher units depend upon the bulbs having a very narrow range of electrical resistance in order to operate.

All other bulbs on the bike can be converted to LED by simple bulb substitution with very beneficial results... the sole exception being the turn signal bulbs.

Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
