72 R75 headlight ring

I need help! I removed the headlight on my R75 to see if a LED I had would fit. Now I can’t get the thing back on. I think I have everything lined up right and can’t see where the inner springs are interfering. Thought I had it on once but grabbed it with fingernails and it popped back off. Any advice?
Is there a way to modify the system so it is held on with a screw or something?

I found a cure!
I called a friend that has been restoring airheads for ever.he put me in touch with a gentleman in Orlando that had a /5.
He informed me that BMW had conveniently put two holes in the perfect place at the bottom of the ring and the bucket that allows for a zip tie to be installed that will hold the whole thing together.
This is a very cheap and effective insurance policy that works like a charm.
