Newbie Introduction
Hello to every one,
This is my introduction to both this forum and BMW Airheads.
I've been riding since I was a teenager and just sold my old friend of forty years, a '69 T100 Outfit. I moved in to a condo and there's no space to keep the rig short of renting another parking space. So - my solution - buy a slightly distressed 1989 R100GS and park it in front of the cage.

I'll be lurking on the "My Airhead Needs Help" and "Airhead Technical Discussions" for a while. At least until I get this new two-wheeler running reliably. I've already met the Parts Manager at the local BMW shop and we're already great buddies. I've read most of what Snowbum has posted on his fabulous website, purchased a Clymer's and started the process. So far the process has included fluid changes and cleanup - learning my way around the bike. Valve clearance check completed. Today, I should pull the carbs and do a major cleanup in that area. Then on to the electrickery. Question: Is there a "Prince of Darkness" like Lucas associated with Airheads?
Here's a pic of my old friend

Welcome to da family! You picked a great bike! Those GS's are awesome machines. There are no "Lucas"-like issues with BMW's.....but a few final drives have been known to catch fire and a few transmissions known to fail due to a missing $0.10 circlip.........but otherwise these are fairly robust beasts that should bring you decades of enjoyment.

Welcome. You might want to contact the Airmarshal for your state. As an airmarshal I am always interested in meeting new 'Heads.

Hello All,
I know nothing. I've been very fortunate, had a little luck, great taste and no money to prove it. I've recently been graced with the presence of this particular '65 R60/2, and it is completely awesome. I made some room in the garage, spent $116 on a book, bought a R75 engine I'l likely never use and got on my computer just to share with all of you. What does patina mean?

Thanks for that suggestion. I researched the subject of contacting the Airmarshal for my State (in my case, it's a Province - BC, Canada) and found nothing. I can find the Forum "Airmarshal Boards". Unfortunately, BC shows zero topics. Do you think I should introduce myself there?

Re: "Patina"
This word refers to a layer (often oxidation) that manifests itself on old things.
Hope this helps

Welcome aboard.
My first thought on seeing your lovely combo... "I got one of those !!"
You'll love your Airhead. Congrats.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Welcome! That's a very beautiful machine, congrats! What is the R75 engine for? Are you considering an engine swap?
Antny
Thank you Quickmarch. This bike's certainly got it, but I think pulls it off well 🙂
Thanks 14652! I'm pretty excited. She doesn't run at the moment but I'm told ran a few months ago. I'll have some time this weekend to look further into what's needed to fire her up. I bought the R75 engine in case I felt compelled to do the engine swap once I'm able to get the bike going in it's original state. With so many possible directions to go, I think getting everything functioning properly will be chapter 1.
Thanks in advance to you all for your help! I'm certain I'll be reaching out.

Greetings fellow AirHeader's, BMW aficionados and lovers of all things motorcycles. My name is Evan along with wife Inga. New members to Airheads and this be my intro.
My current bike is a 1995 R100R classic which we purchased this year. Been busy fixing it up and making it my own. Hope to learn allot from you all and share some goodtimes, both online and perhapes in person.
Been around motorcycles all my life and have owned over 50. First Beemer for me and loving it. My brother is an Airhead owner since the 70's and he along with some BMW riding buddies worked on me for many years to finally purchase one for myself. I don't know who is more excited, them or me LOL.
Been very impressed with the BMW community. They have been very helpful with advice and providing parts etc. Hope to return the favors and Pay it Fwd down the road. I live in a beautiful part of the USA, on the Washington state Olympic penisula. A short ferry ride to Seattle and at the start of the 101 Pacific Coast highway which runs down the coast all the way to the Mexico border. Any fellow Airheads members that are up this way can campout on our 5 acres. We are just outside the city limits of the Victorian Seaport city of Port Townsend.
Best wishes and safe riding
