Hello all. Allen Barrett from NorCal, Santa Rosa area. Picked up a beautiful 1979 R65 and I love it! I had a 1982 R100RT and R80ST many years ago that life forced me to give up. Lately I've been riding Triumphs, currently own a 2018 T120 Bonneville. I've been wanting to get back into beamers, and finally the opportunity presented itself. Glad to be here....
Welcome from Georgia !
I drove a 1979 R65 for years and loved it. You'll never get a ticket for zooming off from a stop too fast on an R65, but they have more than enough cruising muscle. Still have very fond memories of that bike.
My favorite story from those days was when 7 of us were cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway and got timed at 52 MPH. The officer said he'd write one ticket for the group, and for us to decide who was going to get it. I immediately volunteered with the sole stipulation that the others had to do the paying. Everyone agreed. (Back then you handed the officer cash then and there, or got towed.)
Only later did they find out that Federal traffic tickets did not (at that time) go on your state traffic record.
Owning an old Airhead is easy.
Keeping an old Airhead running great is the true test.
Welcome back to the tribe! I love my R65 and hope you have the same great fortune. You have some amazing riding around you!!

Welcome from Newfoundland. I too love my R65!
Hello Allen! You're in my home country, but currently in Phila. I can't recommend Airhead Adventures enough in San Fran; Greg Hutchinson is a real whiz and a great guy.
Take Care-
