Persistence pays off! For the last 10 years I have always expressed interest in a family friends old airhead collection. The day came when he decided to sell, so six weeks ago I received a phone call out of the blue. "You still want one of my old Beemers?" he asked. "I will be down on Saturday with the trailer" was my reply. After hours of YouTube and Google, I found the local airhead chapter, and got some great advise. Six weeks later, she is running again. I drained out some very old fuel, and had the tank cleaned and lined. I then ordered a carb kit from the Bing Agency, and replaced the fuel line. To my amazement, she fired right up. I have ridden about 20 miles, and will start the process of sorting out what to do next.
I have always admired the airhead beemer, and am excited to now have one to ride. I am looking forward to getting this old girl back on the road!
