This bike was born in 1977/78 as a red/smoke R100S. I bought it in 1999. The speedo/odo didn’t work and I estimated about 35k miles, and Foreign Speedo redid the dash in 2015; set the odo to 0. The clock works. Numbers match for the original S.
In 2015 I found a master painter and bought the Glasruit spec Pearl White paint. The result is what you see. The top end was rebuilt by Bob Grauer in 2007, with lead-free valve seats, and nikisil barrels and pistons.
On a 2,200 mile ride, it used about ¼ quart of oil, and got 46 MPG. The brakes are as good as most modern bikes, with the new bar-mounted MC, Spiegler floating discs on the front, and new MC and rebuilt caliper on the rear. The rear main seal was just changed, with new flywheel and oil pump o-rings. Newly powder coated rear rack. Tires and Ikon shocks relatively new. Easy pull clutch.
96XX miles since the rebuild with new clutch plate and disc. Comes with relatively new Krauser bags, Dyna ignition with original points included.
I can't find the rear R100RS badge or the “Last Edition” battery decals, so the R100S is still on the tail, and the battery covers are nude. I have not moved the wiring from the headlight shell to the dashboard for the ignition. Key is still operated from the side of the light. One chip I caused and one tiny defect in the paint job
I've lowered the price, and want it in a good home.
